Welcome to Zahnärzte am Gärtnerplatz 1, a practice for modern, caring dentistry in the heart of Munich – right on Gärtnerplatz in Isarvorstadt, just a few steps from the Glockenbachviertel. We aim to give you individual, high-quality and gentle treatment, with you and your dental health at the centre of everything we do. We both worked as dentists in England for more than ten years, so you are very welcome to discuss everything with us, and be treated, entirely in English.
We combine modern technology with proven methods to look after you as well as we possibly can. Whether you come to us for a routine check-up or for more complex dental work, we will be with you every step of the way to healthy teeth and a radiant smile. It matters a great deal to us that you feel comfortable and well cared for, which is why we take particular care to keep the atmosphere pleasant and relaxed.
Is it advisable to have dental treatment during pregnancy?
Dental treatment is possible during pregnancy, particularly in the second trimester. Whether it should go ahead, however, depends on how urgent it is, so we always weigh this up with you individually.
What should I do if I have severe toothache?
If you have severe toothache, please see a dentist as soon as possible.
Will my health insurance pay for teeth cleaning?
As a rule, professional teeth cleaning (a thorough hygiene appointment) is a private service and is not covered by statutory health insurance. Some statutory health insurers do, however, contribute a fixed subsidy towards it.
Do you see patients with statutory health insurance?
Yes – we are very happy to look after patients with statutory health insurance too.
How often should I come for preventive care?
Once or twice a year, depending on what your dentist recommends. That recommendation is based on your individual needs: if you are more prone to tooth decay, have gum disease, or both, for example, we would suggest coming to see us twice a year.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Once or twice a year, depending on how prone you are to tooth decay.
Is it safe to have dental X-rays during pregnancy?
As a rule, we do not take X-rays during pregnancy – unless it is medically necessary and genuinely unavoidable. Should that be the case, we will of course discuss it with you carefully beforehand.
Does tooth discolouration say anything about dental health?
Discolouration is usually harmless and can be removed with professional teeth cleaning.
What kinds of anaesthetic are available at the dentist?
At our practice, all treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic. This switches off the pain receptors so that you usually feel nothing during treatment.
How is tooth decay treated?
Tooth decay (caries) is a disease of the tooth structure caused by bacteria. To begin with, only the enamel is affected. Left untreated, the decay works its way into the deeper layers and destroys the dentine as well. Depending on how extensive – and, above all, how deep – the decay is, the following treatments are available:
White fillings
Ceramic inlays
Partial crowns and crowns, also in ceramic, for the highest standard of aesthetics.

Seit über 7 Jahren bin ich Patientin bei ihr & ihrem Mann und beide machen hervorragende Arbeit. Alle Behandlungen inkl. Kronen, Spangen etc. verliefen zu meiner besten Zufriedenheit. Vorher hatte ich mit Zahnärzten schlechte Erfahrung gemacht. Nachdem ich damals akute Schmerzen im Kiefer hatte, der bereits in den Kopf ausstrahlte, meine vorherige Ärztin jedoch nichts finden konnte, recherchierte ich online & sie war die erste Zahnärztin, die mir noch für den gleichen Abend außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten einen Termin anbot, damit ich vorbeikommen konnte! Vor allem erkannte sie sofort die Ursache. Das hatte direkt Eindruck bei mir hinterlassen. Beide üben mit Leidenschaft und Freude ihre Berufe aus, bleiben nicht selten länger in der Praxis, um Notfallpatienten zu bedienen. Das habe ich sonst nirgendwo gesehen. Darüber hinaus sind beide herzlich und einfühlsam, versucht stets einem die Angst zu nehmen und man fühlt sich immer wohl in der Praxis. Ich kann sie wärmstens weiterempfehlen!!

Ich war schon paar mal in der Behandlung und bin jedes Mal begeistert! Das sind nicht nur kompetente Ärzte, die professionell auf dem neusten Stand sind und tolle Arbeit leisten. Sondern unglaublich sympathische, positive Menschen, bei denen man sich wohl fühlt und vergisst, dass eine Zahnärztliche Behandlung stattfindet. Ich war eine ganze Weile nicht mehr beim Zahnarzt. Weil ich entweder nicht gut beraten wurde, und nur mit billigsten Material versorgt wurde. der Gang zum Zahnarzt war sage und schreibe Hölle für mich. Diese Zahnärzte am Gärtnerplatz 1 Dr. Med. Dent. Anna & Jens-Uwe Buchholz schickt der Himmel für mich. Ich hätte mir nie träumen lassen, dass ich ohne Angst einmal zum Zahnarzt gehen würde. Dieses Zahnärzte am Gärtnerplatz 1 ist unbeschreiblich. Der absolut beste Zahnarzt in München! Frau Dr. und Herr Dr. Buchholz sind sowohl fachlich als auch menschlich einfach nur TOP. Ich habe mehrere Kronen, ein Implantat, eine Wurzelbehandlung und eine Wurzelspitzenresektion von Frau und Herr Dr. Buchholz machen lassen und bin sehr zufrieden! Die Kronen sehen toll aus, niemand würde den Unterschied zu echten Zähnen erkennen! Auch die Zahnreinigung ist supergründlich👍 Wenn man also nach fachlicher Perfektion gepaart mit einem warmherzigen Ambiente sucht, ist man hier genau richtig! 100%ige Weiterempfehlung!

Ich bin rundum begeistert von meinen Besuchen bei diesem sympathischen Zahnärzte-Ehepaar am Gärtnerplatz. Die Behandlung war hervorragend: Beide nehmen sich viel Zeit, erklären jeden Schritt verständlich und gehen auf individuelle Bedürfnisse ein. Man merkt sofort, dass hier mit Leidenschaft und echter Fürsorge gearbeitet wird. Besonders für Menschen mit Zahnarztangst ist diese Praxis ein echter Glücksgriff – ich habe mich zu jeder Zeit sicher und bestens aufgehoben gefühlt.

Freundlich, professionell, gute Beratung in Englisch oder Deutsch. Ich bin hier auch in einer guten kieferorthopädischen Behandlung.
